In Stockholm werden am Donnerstag (8.00 Uhr) die Preisträger des diesjährigen Right Livelihood Award verkündet, der auch als Alternativer Nobelpreis bekannt ist. Mit dem Preis werden Menschen oder Organisationen ausgezeichnet, die sich für Frieden, Nachhaltigkeit oder Gerechtigkeit einsetzen. In diesem Jahr waren 170 Menschen aus 68 Ländern nominiert. Baku: 192 aserbaidschanische Soldaten bei Militäroffensive in Bergkarabach getötet
Bei der Militäroffensive Aserbaidschans in der umstrittenen Kaukasusregion Bergkarabach sind Angaben aus Baku zufolge 192 aserbaidschanische Soldaten und ein Zivilist getötet worden. Mehr als 500 weitere aserbaidschanische Soldaten seien zudem verletzt worden, erklärte das Gesundheitsministerium am Mittwoch. Die pro-armenische Seite hatte 213 Tote der Kämpfe vermeldet. Somit wurden bei der Militäroffensive insgesamt mehr als 400 Menschen getötet.

Brandenburgs Innenminister Michael Stübgen (CDU) hat erneut gefordert, die stationären Grenzkontrollen zu Polen und Tschechien schnell umzusetzen. Kompromissvorschlag in Haushaltsstreit in den USA vorgelegt
Wenige Tage vor einer drohenden Haushaltssperre in den USA haben Senatoren von Demokraten und Republikanern einen Kompromissvorschlag für einen kurzfristigen Übergangshaushalt vorgelegt. Der am Dienstag (Ortszeit) veröffentlichte Kompromiss würde eine Finanzierung der Bundesbehörden bis zum 17. November sicherstellen.
