Die EU-Mitgliedstaaten und das Europaparlament haben sich darauf geeinigt, die zollfreie Einfuhr von bestimmten Agrarimporten aus der Ukraine ab Juni zu begrenzen. Die Einigung sieht nach Angaben des Europaparlaments vom Mittwoch vor, die Zollfreiheit, die der Ukraine seit 2022 gewährt wird, um ein weiteres Jahr zu verlängern. Allerdings seien Schutzmechanismen für bestimmte kritische Produkte vorgesehen. Betroffen sind demnach Eier, Geflügel, Zucker, aber auch Hafer, Mais und Honig; Weizen und Gerste hingegen sollen nicht auf die Liste gesetzt werden.

Blinken werde am Mittwoch Gespräche in Dschiddah mit Vertretern Saudi-Arabiens führen, ehe er am Donnerstag nach Kairo reisen werde, sagte US-Außenamtssprecher Matthew Miller am Dienstag. In Kairo sind demnach Gespräche mit Vertretern Ägyptens geplant.
