Nach Auszählung von knapp 20 Prozent der Stimmen kam der amtierende Bürgermeister von Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, auf 49,6 Prozent der Stimmen, während sein von Präsident Recep Tayyip Erdogan unterstützter Hauptrivale bei 41,6 Prozent lag, wie staatliche Medien am Sonntag berichteten. In Ankara lag Bürgermeister Mansur Yavas demnach nach Auszählung von 12,4 Prozent der Stimmen bei einem Anteil von 56,3 Prozent.
