Steen Olsen, 23, pipped compatriot Henrik Kristoffersen by 0.39sec and Switzerland's Marco Odermatt at 0.60sec in the final giant slalom before the world championships in Saalbach, Austria held between February 4-16.

Steen Olsen secured his third World Cup career win and second of this winter after a giant slalom success in Soelden in October.

The giant slalom victory comes in contrast to his form in the slalom, having failed to finish better than eighth in the discipline so far this campaign.

"This is so extremely nice after a tough slalom period," Steen Olsen said.

"I finally managed to have a super day.

"And here in Schladming, it's fantastic," he added.

Switzerland's Loic Meillard led after the first run but finished fourth.

The World Cup campaign continues on Wednesday with a slalom race also held under floodlights.
