New Zealand post 158-5 against South Africa in Women's T20 World Cup final
All-rounder Amelia Kerr struck a crucial 43 from 38 balls to lift New Zealand to an imposing 158-5 from their 20 overs in the Women's T20 World Cup Final against South Africa in Dubai on Sunday.
Batting at three, as well as being the leader wicket-taker at the tournament, Kerr came to the crease in the second over and stayed until the 19th when she picked out the reliable hands of Tazmin Brits on the midwicket boundary.
She hit four fours and added 57 for the fourth wicket with Brooke Halliday who hammered a rousing 38 from 28 balls. Suzie Bates, playing in her 334th international match, also played her part with 32 at the top of the order.
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, the South African attack never settled against the White Fern aggression, giving away 10 wides and three no-balls.
Nonkululeko Mlaba was the most successful of the bowlers picking up 2-31 from her four overs.
